Scoreboards
When I first started my role at Red7 (later bought by SG), this product was already in progress for William Hill as the initial client. The first challenge when I started was to expand the scoreboard product to more sports and also for a new customer, SkyBet.
Further down the line, the challenge was then to use what we had to create a whitelabel scoreboard product for any future customers.
My Role
In September 2017 I joined the project, working under another designer but I led the design from February 2018 and took up the Product Owner role in 2019.
In this time, I have worked closely with the Developers, Project Managers, and internal/external stakeholders regularly.
Evolution
The scoreboard project has evolved a lot since I first started working on it and we went through countless iterations; some were developed and some just explorations.
As we supplied both SkyBet and William Hill with bespoke scoreboards rather then the whitelabel solution, we had a lot of customer input on the future of the product and I was heavily involved in these discussions (on calls, emails and occasional visits to SkyBet and William Hill).
Animation
A big part of this project was creating animations, powered by live data feeds, that would be displayed on the pitch or court visual. I had to make sure that the event was clearly displayed but also that the animations weren't too complex as they need to seamlessly transition between them.
Release
The scoreboards are now live globally and as I left the company, were still being updated and expanded to additional sports and customers.
